～する 〔見のがす〕 overlook; wink [connive] at…; pass over; 〔傍観する〕 remain a mere spectator 《of [to]…》.

●暴走族の違法行為を黙視するわけにはいかない. We cannot turn a blind eye [shut our eyes] to the illegal conduct of motorcycle gangs.

・だれも彼の窮状を黙視するに忍びない. One cannot remain a mere spectator when he is in such a sad plight.
